Every time farmers load their planters with soil, they are reminded of two nagging questions that nag at the back of their thoughts despite the hectic pressures of planting season. What quantity of talc or graphite needs to be put in for each planter fill, and why the earth is it required to add graphite and/or talc in the first place? According to Kelby Krueger, a specialist of products at John Deere, graphite is a dry lubricant that is used to lessen the amount of wear that occurs in mechanical seeding systems.
